To the many beta testers out there: Many thanks! You have helped us
uncover and resolve a number of
software bugs assuring that our official release of AviMate 3 will be as stable as
possible. We encourage you to download our latest Beta and do some
final testing for us.
Click on http://www.avimate.com/avi3beta.htm
to download our 18th build, Beta 6.
To install Beta 6 properly, please uninstall any previous beta versions first!
(Go to the Control Panel, click on
"Add/Remove Programs," then click on "AviMate 3" and press the Remove button.)
As we cautioned in our last newsletter, do not use this beta for permanent work -- keep
using AviMate 2 for "real" work as slight changes in database structure may still
occur.
Please report any bugs you find by this Saturday morning 8am EDT, July 14.
Bet they'll be hard to find this
time! We plan to resolve any final issues this weekend and release AviMate 3 by Monday,
July 16.

AVIMATE 3 FEATURE SET
Here are the finalized AviMate 3 features:
General Application Enhancements
· A true 32-bit application
· Powerful error handling to enhance the stability of the application and to
facilitate
technical support
· Personal licensing
· Improved user interface
· Improved archive architecture
· Plug-in capability enabling you to add extra functionality into AviMate; such
as
nursery
and
clutch data collection using a palm-sized computer
Enhancements to Breeder Inventory
· Include photos of your breeder records
· Change sex of a breeder (must unpair to accomplish)
· Option to provide record information on deceased breeders
Enhancements to Clutch Inventory
· Parent information available even when in the egg tab
Enhancements to Nursery Inventory
· Data collection of feeding information and chick weights
Enhancements to Invoice Service
· Sell breeder birds
· Print client phone number and email address on invoice
· Print your logo on invoice (no longer a need for logo customization service)
Enhancements to Expense Module
· Tailor your expense records by adding new categories and/or modifying old
categories
Enhancements to Contact Database
· Reorganized into 3 tabs to accommodate keyword information
· Add key words or phrases to your contact records so you can search off of
them
later
to find that special contact
Enhancements to Browse Screens
· Print out any browse screen
· Customize the information presented to fit your needs. (Custom feature
available
in
Breeder Inventory, Clutch Activities, Nursery Inventory, and Invoice browse
screens.)
· Export browse screen information to HTML or ASCII text file
Enhancements to Hatch Certificate
· Enhanced Hatch Certificate to replace old Birth Certificate
· Print your logo on certificate (no longer a need for logo customization
service)
Enhancements to Backup Service
· Backs up and restores using zip compression technology. This makes your
backup
file less
than 10% of its original size!
· Now you can span your backup file across multiple floppies, if necessary
