It's official. The long awaited day has arrived: AviMate 3 is now a
released product! Please download it for real at http://www.avimate.com
. It comes with a 30-day free trial period.
You must uninstall any beta version before installing AviMate 3. (Go to
the Control Panel, click on "Add/Remove Programs," then click on
"AviMate 3" and press the Remove button.)

ONE MORE FEATURE ADDED
We got recurring pleas for AviMate 3 to be able to change egg dispositions,
hatch dates, and the like in Clutch Activities and Nursery Inventory.
AviMate 2 did not allow such changes for data integrity reasons. When an
egg is hatched, many things happen. Nursery records are created, which can
then be included on invoices, production history is recorded, and so on.
This capability was planned for 'fat' AviMate 3, but got dropped in 'midi'
AviMate 3 (see earlier newsletters for discussion on this). Nevertheless,
we listened to these pleas and delayed our release of AviMate 3 a couple days to
add basic egg/chick change capability. Under most conditions, AviMate 3
will now allow you to make egg and chick changes. Some changes, however,
cannot be made; like, if you've sold a chick, you still cannot change its
disposition from hatched to something else.

CITES -- A LITTLE NOW, MORE LATER
Through recent e-mail exchanges, we have come to understand that CITES is an
important additional tracking number for many of our European clients.
We could not delay the release of AviMate 3 any longer to include CITES
tracking. We have, however, added CITES fields in certain AviMate
databases so that we can add CITES data entry and reporting later as an AviMate
3 maintenance release.

ORDER FULFILLMENT
We will start e-mailing personal registration licenses as soon as possible to
those who paid for our download version. We will be shipping out business
card CD's starting next week to those who ordered our shipped version. Our
30-day free trial version is in no way crippled, so most of you should be able
to download AviMate 3 and start using it while your CD is in transit!

BEWARE OF THE BOUNCE
Newsletter distribution services like List Builder are great, but the ones we
have seen all have one bad trait. If an e-mail sent out is not
successfully delivered; i.e., it is bounced back to the mail server, the
distribution service then deletes the e-mail address from the mailing list!
After our last Newsletter, 23 names were dropped due to bounces. We'll try
to re-import these people into our mailing list, but some names may get lost in
the process. Bottomline. If you stop hearing from us, there's a good
chance you got bounced and we could not get you back in our list. In such
cases, the only recourse is to resubscribe so that we can stay in touch.
(Don't worry about getting two Newsletters. If you resubscribe and are
already there, List Builder will not accept the duplicate address.)
