Version 2 Issues/Fixes/Enhancements

Version /
Date
Issues/Fixes
2.0.17
12/19/00
Issues: 1. A user could access AviMate without entering a password, even if a password was set.  This can only happen if a password is set and the program option to prompt for a backup when existing AviMate is enabled. The following steps will allow you to enter the program without a password:
a. Launch AviMate
b. When asked for password, click the Cancel button.

c. When asked to backup databases, click the Cancel button.
Fixes: Corrected code.

2.0.16
1/22/00
Issues: 1. Would receive a Run-time error '381', Invalid Property Array Index, when attempting to browse records.  This would only occur if the user had selected to include all of the available fields in the "Customize Browse" options.
2. Various Y2K issues resolved.  There is still an outstanding problem in the spread-sheet like grids used all browse screens, egg records, invoice items, and expense records.  This issue is discussed on the Y2K Issues page at http://www.avimate.com/y2k.htm.
3. Would receive a Run-time error '32014', Specified Date is Invalid, when attempting to open the Reports screen with the Date Separator of the Short Date format in the Regional Settings is set to a dot "." instead of a slash "/". (i.e. 01.22.2000 or mm.dd.yyyy).
4. Would receive a Run-time error '3075', Syntax error in date in query expression, when attempting to open the Daily Planner screen with the Date Separator of the Short Date format in the Regional Settings is set to a dot "." instead of a slash "/". (i.e. 01.22.2000 or mm.dd.yyyy).
  Fixes: Corrected code.

2.0.15
8/17/99
Issues: 1. Occasionally would receive an Error 53, "File not found", while performing a backup or restore.
2. When a "record not found" error message was displayed in an entry screen, AviMate would sometimes exit that entry screen.
  Fixes: Corrected code.

2.0.14
5/1/99
Issues: 1. The "Grouped by Common Type" under the breeder reports was not grouping properly.
2. The band number did not always show in the production history and the clutch records did not reflect band number entry done in the nursery inventory.
3. If you were in the Invoice screen and you opened another entry screen, leaving the Invoice screen open, and then upon returning to the Invoice screen you click the print invoice button, it would print a report that corresponded to the last entry screen viewed.
Fixes: Corrected code and report files.

Bonus:
1. The Production Averages now calculates Past History Averages from the first clutch date to the current date. In the past, Past History Averages were calculated from the first clutch date to the last clutch date. If you had less than a 12 month span, no averages were displayed. Now averages are displayed if the first clutch is 12 months or older.
2. Date spans can now be specified for the following report groups; Clutch Activities, Nursery Inventory, Expense Records, Invoice Records, and Production History.

2.0.13
12/17/98
Issues: 1. AviMate causes the following GPF error when an item on the Hatch Reminder window is selected:

AVIMATE caused a general protection fault in module VB40016.DLL at 0001:00000ebc.

  Fixes: Recreated corrupted executable file.

2.0.12
12/15/98
Issues: 1. Contact reports did not sort correctly.
2.
If a bird was returned to the nursery from a saved invoice, the baby's status would still show the baby sold on that invoice not allowing any editing to that record.
3. Would occasionally received a Run-time error '3024', Couldn't find file c:\avimate2\data\active.mdb, when print Pedigree or Progeny reports.
4. Would receive "The following error occurred form object CRYSTL 16: Error in formula Number 20515" when printing breeder or nursery reports when a common name was selected that had an apostrophe in the name (i.e. Buffon's Macaw or Edward's Fig Parrot).
5. Some users have reported that the page numbers and dates were not printing at the bottom of the reports. The top and bottom margin of each report has been increased to help accommodate most of the available printers.
6. Some users have reported seeing data on reports that were not theirs. The data was not actually in their database, it was only showing the test data used to build the reports. This only happened when the computer had newer versions of the Crystal report system files installed. To correct this problem, we have stripped the test data from all of the report files.
7. The Detailed Production History report did not total the number of hatched eggs correctly.
Fixes: Corrected code and report files.

Bonus:
1. Added record counts to all browse windows based of show options.
2. Show options are now in red text to help identify the current settings.
3. The browse screen in both Breeder and Nursery inventory can now be fully customizable. Columns can now be reordered and resized.
4. The Nursery inventory screen has been improved to show the date that the bird was sold along with the invoice number in the Bird Status box. The Age label now specifies that it is in days.
5. You can now transfer birds from your nursery to your breeder inventory even when the baby has been sold. This is useful if you have repurchased a bird that you have sold.

2.0.11
9/26/98
Issues: 1. A user encountered this error after attempting to view a print preview screen. "The following error occurrence form object CRYSTL.16: Invalid Negative Value. Number: 20572." This error seems to be rare and is somehow tied to the screen resolution on some systems. The problem is that the preview window is attempting to open outside of the viewable area of the display screen.
2. Was still encountering the problem that a registered copy of AviMate would un-register itself and then not accept a valid registration code. In the past, AviMate would un-register itself after about 15 days, that problem was solved. This seemed to be caused by system crashes and other system anomalies.
  Fixes: Corrected code.

2.0.10
7/7/98
Issues: 1. Invoice reports includes Voided invoices in totals.
2. Would occasionally receive Run-time error '32100', Invalid Time, when entering Daily Planner. This would happen if the user had the Time Style set to "H:mm:ss" in the Regional Settings under the Control Panel of Windows 95.
3. Detailed Production History report was displaying the disposition under the band number field which in turn, created inaccurate totals. This problem seemed to be directly related to data that was archived.
4. Received Run-time error '3021', No Current Record, when closing the Payment screen. This would happen only under the following conditions: There are no payment items in the payment screen, and the user clicks the payment method dropdown box and tries to either close the dropdown or the payment screen without making a selection.
5. Received Run-time error '3167', Record is deleted, when trying to unarchive clutch records. After reloading AviMate, the record was moved from Archive to Active, but the Browse Clutch screen shows no data in the Cage number and Band number fields for that record. The missing data is present on the Clutch Activities screen. If the record is edited and saved, the missing data on the Clutch Browse reappears.
6. Received an Invalid Procedure Call, error 5, followed by a Run-time error '3420', Object is invalid or not set, when trying to go to an archived nursery record in the Bird Search.
7. The Hatch Reminder report was not sorting correctly.
8. The Import Wizard would give various errors while importing 1.0 data that were hard to trouble shoot. We added some additional error checking to help trouble shoot future problems.
Fixes: Corrected code and report files.

Bonus:
1. Improved the breeder inventory reports by adding pet name, hatch date, and the price of the breeder bird. The price is totaled at the bottom of each grouping.
2. Added 1 additional breeder inventory report grouping by the Common Type.

2.0.9
5/4/98
Issues: 1. In Invoices, if you attempt to blank out the Quantity or Unit Price field, you would receive a Run-time error '94': Invalid use of Null.
2. If a user entered a comment on an invoice line item with a zero for the quantity and unit price, the invoice would show the zeros when printing. This was not desirable for line items used as comments. The quantity and unit price no longer prints if it has a zero value.
3. The Grand Total amount displayed on the invoice screen was incorrect.
4. In Invoices, pressing the Delete key on one of the line items would not place the invoice record in edit mode.
5. The print out for the Hatch Reminder screen was not sorting correctly. Due to the restrictions of our report generator, we were not able to reproduce the sort order on the report and only show one egg per pending clutch. To correct the sort order problem on the report, we will now show all eggs of all clutches that do not have a disposition. We are now labeling this report as the "Detailed Hatch Reminder List".
6. The "No information is available for this Male breeder" and the "No information is available for this Female breeder" labels were reversed in the Nursery Parental Information
7. Certain information was not being transferred to the archive database when using the Archive Utility. This information included the cage number, band numbers of the parents for each clutch, and the Fertile tag for each egg record. The parents information for a baby in the nursery was also not transferred.
8. When printing receipts, the last payments made were not printed unless you exited the payments screen and saved the invoice. This has now been corrected by allowing you to save the invoice while in the payment screen.
9. AviMate would not allow you to save a nursery record that had a duplicate band number, even after answering "Yes" to the message warning.
10. The Birth Certificate was printing a comma after the common name.
11. Received the message "Your Password has expired" and AviMate will no longer allow entry. This occurred exactly 15 days after registering AviMate.
  Fixes: Corrected code.

Bonus:
1. You can now select to print a receipt at the time of saving invoices.
2. The Detailed Nursery report was adjusted so that more lines of comments are displayed before printing a second page. This can be useful if you are recording feeding information in the comments.

2.0.8
4/8/98
Issues: 1. Some users experienced strange behaviors in the date drop-down fields.
2. The breeder's cage number was not saved when archiving a clutch record.
3. In Nursery Inventory reports, a baby bird's information was incorrectly displayed in the Report Criteria area of the Birth Certificate and Pedigree reports.
Fixes: Corrected code and replaced 2 system files pertaining to the date fields.

Bonus: AviMate now shows the number of days left while in trial mode.

2.0.7
3/2/98
Issues: 1. Data in the Nursery reports are either shown under the wrong field title or missing altogether. (Example; Microchip ID is showing under the Special Markings in the Detailed Nursery report)
2. Received Error 20510 in CRYSTL16; Invalid Formula Name when printing reports.
3. Received GPF errors in module CRPE.dll when printing reports.
4. Replaced the Latin Name field with the Location field in all the Nursery browse windows to help the breeder identify their babies.
5. The Location column was cropped in the nursery reports.
6. Received Run-time error '3021', No Current Record, when attempting to print the Production History averages while in Archive mode.
7. Users using Non-U.S. currency formats would receive a run-time error 3421, Data type conversion error, when entering currency amounts in Breeder Inventory, Expenses, and Invoices.
Fixes: Corrected code, report files, and replaced 2 system files.

Bonus: Added Age (shown in days) to the Nursery Inventory screen and the Nursery summary reports

2.0.6
2/24/98
Issues: 1. Some users would receive a Run-time error '3021', No Current Record, when attempting to print the Production History averages.
2. Received a Run-Time error '424', Object Required Form error, when attempting to run AviMate 2 for the first time.
Fixes: Corrected code, corrected install. (We believe that problem 2 stemmed from improperly registering the system files)

2.0.5
2/17/98
Issues: 1. Status bar at the bottom of the menu panel does not always update when you move the mouse from one selection to the other.
2. In the Clutch Activities screen, if you view the Egg Information tab, then view the Clutch Information tab, the record was placed in the edit mode, causing the user to select either Save or Cancel.
3. Users using Non-U.S. date formats would receive a Run-time error "32014", Specified Date invalid, in many of the screens containing a date field.
4. Received a Run-Time error '3421', Data type conversion error, in the purchase price field of the breeder screen if the value was non-numeric.
5. Notes entered in the Daily Planner were not saved.
6. Received Run-time error '94', Invalid use of Null when Invoices loaded. This error was rare and would happen if the computer was shutdown while running AviMate.
7. Received a Run-Time error '367', Can't load (or register) custom control: 'SSDATB16.OCX'. This error is very rare. We hope by using the new install in this update, this will be corrected.
8. Sales tax in Options screen was not properly displayed.
9. Several currency fields were not properly displayed.
10. Parental Information was not displayed in Clutch Activities when viewing archived data.
11. An additional message was added in the Clutch Activities explaining the consequence of marking egg records as Historical.
12. Requirement needed for a category of "Postage/Freight Charges" in Expenses.
13. Invoice date was not printing on the invoices.
14. When entering the Clutch Activities screen, the Egg Information tab (second tab) was being displayed first and then would switch to the Clutch Information tab (first tab).
Fixes: Corrected code, code added, new install platform.

2.0.4
1/30/98
Issues: 1. AviMate receives a GPF error in module AviMate.exe. This problem is under investigation. Microsoft has supplied us with all new system DLL files. We are hoping this fixes this problem.
2. Received the following error message while creating a new clutch: The following error occurred from object DAO.Table, No Current Record, Number 3021. This error occurred under the following condition:
a. The parents of the current visible clutch record were archived.
b. You selected to create a new clutch.
c. You selected the parents for the new clutch.
Fixes: Replaced all system DLL files used by AviMate, corrected code.

2.0.3
1/27/98

Issues: 1. The registration screen was improved.
2. Received run-time error 94, "Invalid use of null", when printing Detailed Production History.
3. Received run-time error 3024, "Update without Addnew or Edit" when Production History Averages.
4. Detailed Production History had incorrect totals for eggs fertile and eggs hatched.
5. Received a "Record not found" error when selecting an item in the Hatch Reminder"
6. Misspellings in install program.
Fixes: Corrected code, report file, and install program.

Issues: 1. Received a "No current record" error when changing Cage # or Band # when a breeder bird had no production history.

Fixes: Corrected code.
